I know what it costs to stay in the wrong room.

Omonike Arokoyo is a careers and employability professional and the founder of Careerlution, a tech career transition coaching practice built on one straightforward belief: that the people best placed to help someone change careers are the ones who have done it themselves.

My story

She started her academic life studying Food Science and Technology, and the career she has built since then looks nothing like where that degree was expected to lead.

The move from a science background into professional development, employability, and tech career coaching was the result of paying close attention to the job market, working out where her existing skills had real value, and making deliberate decisions about how to position herself for roles she had not been formally trained for.

That process of mapping what you already have onto where the market actually needs people is the foundation of everything she now coaches.

Supporting career transitions at every level

Over the course of her career in careers and employability, Omonike has worked across a wide range of contexts and client groups, supporting higher education students, early-career professionals, career changers, experienced professionals at mid to senior level, and young people navigating the move from education into work.

Working across all of those groups has given her a grounded understanding of career transitions from multiple angles, and the ability to meet a client where they actually are rather than where it is easier to place them.

That expertise has been recognised beyond her day-to-day work.

Her direct experience covers CV writing, LinkedIn profile optimisation, skills mapping, interview preparation, one-on-one coaching, and tech recruitment.  Omonike has been invited to speak at Tech4Dev, one of Africa’s most prominent technology skills development organisations, at Side Hustle, the widely recognised digital and entrepreneurial skills bootcamp, and at BNET Learning, an IIBA Premier Endorsed Education Provider for business analysis professionals. Each of those invitations came because of what she knows about the gap between where tech professionals are and where the market needs them to be, and what it takes to help them close it.

Careerlution is the direct product of that accumulated experience.

Omonike spent years working alongside professionals who were applying for tech and tech-adjacent roles in ways that were unlikely to get results. CVs that described tasks rather than outcomes. LinkedIn profiles that reflected where someone had been, rather than where they were heading.

Applications that were written the same way for every role regardless of what the job description was actually asking for. The understanding of what goes wrong in that process, and what needs to change, comes from years of working inside the systems that make those hiring decisions.

Helping professionals apply with purpose

The coaching practice she has built offers one-to-one tech career transition support built around the individual.

The work covers skills mapping, CV development, LinkedIn positioning, job search strategy, and application coaching, all structured around a clear understanding of how hiring in tech actually works and what tech employers are genuinely looking for in a career changer. The goal is to help professionals see that the skills they already have are exactly what a well-chosen tech-adjacent role requires, and to build the materials and the narrative that make that case clearly to the people making the hiring decision.
